The Visto story

The pattern iron makes before the Earth

Macro of the dial: long irregular bands of a printed relief in silver-grey, applied steel indices, and the Soltere wings mark.

The dial

Widmanstätten figure

The Widmanstätten figure is the crystal structure iron takes as it cools inside an asteroid, over millions of years. Ours is printed in three dimensions and finished silver-grey.

Inspired by the stone, not cut from it.

The case

Not one flat side on it

The bezel reads as an octagon and is not one. Each of its eight sides is a shallow arc, bulging a millimetre at the middle, so the case sits on the wrist as a cushion instead of a block. Eight exposed screws hold it. The lugs are part of the case, not bolted to it.

The movement

Wound by your wrist

Miyota 8215. Japanese automatic, 21 jewels, 21,600 vibrations an hour, hand-winding. A sapphire window in the caseback shows it working.

The crown

Signed

The Soltere wings, struck into the crown.
